| This CD has 5 sections. The first section deals with BASICS OF DUCTILE IRON METALLURGY. It covers the study of metals and alloys with special reference to ductile iron chemistry, processing, phase changes and properties. The second section on CHEMISTRY CONTROL IN DUCTILE IRON covers the control of main elements in ductile iron namely, Carbon, Silicon, Manganese, Phosphorus and Sulfur. It also deals with the effect of alloying elements Copper, Nickel, Molybdenum and Tin. The control of Magnesium, Rare earths, Calcium and Barium is also discussed in this section. Section three covers the DUCTILE IRON PRODUCTION including: melting, conditioning, treatment and post inoculation aspects. Section four of this CD deals with DUCTILE IRON PROPERTIES AFFECTED BT GRAPHITE SHAPE and MATRIX. The final fifth section of the CD deals with METALLURGICAL DEFECTS commonly associated with ductile iron castings. It covers the defects relating to graphite shape, matrix carbides, inclusions and shrinkage.
The CD contains about 4 hours of audio visual presentations by Gene Muratore and Al Alagarsamy. It has also quizzes at the end of each section where the users can self assess their competencies instantly after taking the quiz. It also gives them an option to review their answers with the correct answers for the quiz questions. |
